George E. Robison, Jr., 88, died Friday, November 18, 2016 after a brief illness. George retired from GM & O (ICG) Railroad after 47 years of service. He was a graduate of Springhill College with a degree in Business Mgt. He was an employee of Volunteers of America, SE for 20 years. George was a Korean War veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a long-time member of Oakdale Baptist Church and also of Government Street Baptist where he served as Treasurer for 47 years and as a Deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. Robison, Sr. and Johnie Cook Robison; and his niece, Karen Moulyet Farr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances Willis Robison; brother-in-law Danny (Sheryl) Willis; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Government Street Baptist Church with the Funeral Service to follow at 12 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Government Street Baptist Church or Volunteers of America.
