Gerald Wallace King

Husband, Father, Father in Law, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great-Great Grandfather, Friend, Role-Model, Friend, and Hero left his earthly home to enter his eternal home on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.

Gerald King was born on October 10, 1932 to Hillary Oran King and Lillie Mae King in Red Level, Alabama. He was the older brother to a sister, Eleanor Jean Helms and a brother Harold Douglas King. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

He served in the Army and worked for over 30 years as a supervisor at Scott Paper Company. He spent his retirement years serving Azalea City Church of Christ.

He married the love of his life, Martha Pauline King on May 10, 1957 and they would spend the next 62 years loving each other and raising their family. Their long loving marriage is a true testament to us all of how wonderful a husband he was to his sweet wife.

He was the loving father to two daughters, Belinda Moss and Christy Cordrey. The helpful father-in-law to his son-in- laws, Bob Moss and Stan Cordrey. He was the proud grandfather to Wanda Moss Estes, Brandi Moss, Kristan Cordrey McIntosh, and Troy Cordrey. He was the doting great grandfather to Brittany Moss, Emily Moss Hall, Cullen Estes, Jennifer Estes, Madison Moss, and Kyler McIntosh. He was the affectionate great -great grandfather to Hayzlee Hall and Lillian Moss.

Gerald King never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a Godly man dedicated to his family, his work, and his church. You could always depend on Gerald King and he will leave a legacy that will continue through his family and those who loved him.

This world was a better place for the 86 years that he was here and will not be the same. His family is celebrating his life and the peace of knowing that he is whole again walking the streets of Heaven. We know we will see him again and that he is watching over us every minute. We love you and thank you for being you. There will never be another “Poopsie King.”

A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Azalea City Church of Christ, 3550 Schillinger Rd. North, Semmes, Alabama 36575. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. from the church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, Alabama.

Pallbearers are Troy Cordrey, Cullen Estes, Terry Hall, Quinten McIntosh, Keith Loden, and Kenny Pierce.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Moss, Stan Cordrey, Conrad Carpenter, Mike Eubanks, and Bill Weatherly
