Geraldine Sibley Lee

Geraldine “Gerrie” Sibley Lee, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at age 78 after a difficult battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

She was born to Willard and Edna Sibley on November 23, 1946. She grew up in Mobile and graduated from Murphy High School in 1964. After graduation she went to work with the Mobile County Public School System in the Business Office and eventually the Superintendent’s office. She married Samuel “Sammy” Lee and together they had 3 children: Holly, Darryl, and Gary.

Gerrie was devoted to her family. She was her children’s biggest cheerleader. She was a great baseball mom as well as a very involved high school band mom. As much as she enjoyed being a mom, she absolutely loved being both a “Me Maw” and a “MeMe” (depending on which grandchild she was with). She loved cooking, working in her flowerbeds, watching Alabama football, and spending time playing with grandchildren.

Gerrie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Lee; her father, Willard F. Sibley, Jr.; her mother, Edna V. Sibley; and her brother Willard F. “Frank” Sibley, III.

She is survived by her daughter, Holly Denise Lee Panchenko (Stephen); two sons, Darryl Eugene Lee (Alicia) and Gary Christopher Lee; grandchildren, Jack, Julia, and Jenna Panchenko and Sam and Aaron Lee; sister, Joan Marie Sibley, as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.

Visitation for Gerrie will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10a.m. to 11a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, if you should wish, make a donation in Gerrie’s name to the Dementia Society of America for Lewy Body Dementia research.
