Grace Rooney Patterson

.July 18, 1923 - August 7, 2016 Mrs. Grace Rooney Patterson, native of Urania, LA and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, August 7, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, LT. Col. B. L. Patterson, Rt., son, Ray Leonard Patterson and nine siblings. Mrs. Patterson was a longtime member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Georgetown, SC and attended Brookside Chapel. Grace will be remembered by family and friends as a loving, generous caregiver to all. She loved family gatherings and spending time around the dinner table. She was a lady of great faith and continued to read her Bible on a daily basis. She was also a bank teller for South Carolina National Bank, and a hairstylist for many years. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her her children; Oretha Marie Patterson Thompson, Charlotte Patterson Tolson (Robert Alan , Sr.), and Douglas Gary Patterson (Susanne Hope). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Katrina L. Coleman (Mike), Darryl D. Thompson (Renee), Michael R. Patterson (Kerry), Beth Ann Patterson Myers (Steve), Kimberly Dawn Montes (Carlos), Robert Alan Tolson, Jr., Bryan Joseph Tolson (Jessica English), Sara Jo Romano (Frank) and ten great-grandchildren; Gabriella, Nicholas, Chelsea, Patrick, Meagan, Brandon, Melissa, Remy, Killian and Henry. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home 3155 Dauphin Street, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at Carpe Diem Coffee and Tea Company, 4072 Old Shell Rd. from 8:00 until 9:00 p.m. Visitation and funeral services will be held in Hartwell, GA at Strickland Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2016 beginning at 11:30 a.m. until service time of 2:00 p.m. with interment in Nancy Hart Memorial Gardens, Hartwell, GA.
