

Grady Henry Nichols, Jr. passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013. He was born June 26 1928 in Letohatchee, AL. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Mary Charles Holladay Nichols, his parents Grady Henry Nichols, Sr. and Rosa Mae Gilbert Nichols and his sister Boncile Nichols Parrish. Mr. Nichols worked 42 years for the L & N Railroad (later the State Docks). He was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for 40 years and more recently was a member at Dauphin Way Baptist Church. In the late 60’s and 70’s he coached Dixie Youth Baseball. He is survived by his sons; Grady Henry Nichols, III (Gene Steadman Nichols) and Wayne V. Nichols (Brenda Hill Nichols); two grandsons, Grady Nichols, IV (Molly Nolin Nichols) of Leeds, AL; Joshua V. Nichols, Sr. (Brandy Klemm Nichols) of Mobile, AL; seven great grandsons; Joseph, Jaylin, Joshua, Jr. and Jazzly, Grady Henry V., Myles and Cameron; three step-grandchildren; Timothy Simmons (Candace Bookout), James Simmons (Levitia) and Jennifer Simmons Cook (Laine). He is also survived by two brothers Robert C. Nichols, Sr. (Jane) and John Paul Nichols (Bonnie); two sisters, Nellie N. Hornady and Judy Sanders (Jerry) and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Nichols fought a long and courageous battle against Parkinson disease, the family would deeply appreciate memorial be made in his memory to fight this debilitating disease. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 12 Noon with Rev. Arthur Burroughs officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:0 0 a.m. till service time. Interment will be in Hayneville Cemetery in Hayneville, AL at 3:30 p.m.. Pallbearers will be: Joshua Nichols, Sr., Grady H. Nichols, IV, Robert C. Nichols, Jr., W. Clifford Hornady, III, Jerry Sanders and Joseph D. Steadman, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert C. Nichols, Sr., John Paul Nichols, Pat Kilpatrick, Ike Causey, TC Gray, Robert Holladay and Claude Amos.
