Helen Furr Austin, born 1925, passed on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was a longtime resident of Mobile and a member of Dauphin Way Methodist Church. She graduated from Murphy High School then attended Springhill College. She was a dedicated housewife and excellent cook. Helen had a love of reading which she utilized as librarian for several years at Julius T. Wright School. She enjoyed her summers with her family on Mobile Bay.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Philip Gendron Austin and their son, David Belden Austin.
She is survived by son, Philip Gendron Austin III (Jeannie) and daughter in law, Lisa Gunter Austin: five grandchildren; Brigg Hails Austin, Blakeley Austin Nash, Sarah Austin Isbell, Anna Austin Thomas, and David Belden Austin, Jr.: and seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. Grave side services are to be held at Pine Crest Cemetery on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11:00am.
