Helen Lee Greer Hays

Mrs. Helen Lee Greer Hays passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015. She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Jack B. Hays. Helen was the daughter of Hazzie Lee Greer and Annabell Douglass Greer. Born December 31, 1922, Helen was proud to be a native of Mobile. She was a graduate of Murphy High School, Class of 1941. She was a former bookkeeper at Sokol’s Furniture and later Waterman Steamship Company where she met her husband. As a mother, Mrs. Hays was very involved at her daughter’s schools. She also served as troop leader of Girl Scout Troop 281 in the 1960s. She is survived by her daughter Jackie (Randy) Moon of Opelika, Alabama, grandson Jason (Megan) Moon of Roanoke, Alabama, close family members Emmabel Campbell and Patricia (Joe) Galdis, and numerous cousins. Helen was a strong woman who loved her independence, a loyal friend that could always be counted on. Visitation was held at Radney Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to The Friends of Magnolia Cemetery, Inc. or Murphy High School Alumni Association.
