Henry Thomas Davies Sr.

Henry Thomas (Tom) Davies Sr. passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his home with family and friends at his bedside. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cheryl Lynn Davies and son Robert Quitman Davies. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kennedy Davies; four children; Dorothy Richards, Henry Thomas Davies, Jr., Michael Lawrence Davies and Stephen Matthew Davies. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Tom and Carolyn were married 58 years ago in Fitzgerald, Georgia. His career in the HVAC industry began in Macon, Georgia in 1955 while working and going to college. In 1963, the couple moved to Mobile which became their home. Tom was a wonderful father and equally generous to both family and friends. All will miss the fun and love that he brought to their lives. Second only to his family, HVAC was his passion. 2013 marked Tom's 58th year in the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Industry. With a special tribute to Frank "Pappy" Cunningham, by the family, our love is forever.

On behalf of MACCA, we send our condolences to his family and will ourselves miss him greatly. He was a consistent and stubborn friend who would do all in his power to make sure you were able to grasp the concepts of the trade and how to stay in business, along with seeing the future. All are saddened that a great giant in our industry has passed away.

Tom Davies was most recently Executive Director of MACCA (Mobile Air Conditioning Contractors Association) and previously manager of Mobile, Supply, President of Associated Equipment Co. owner of Tom Davies and Associates. If you knew Tom, you'd realize that we have lost a true friend and a wealth of knowledge as Tom was one of the most informed and helpful persons in the HVAC field, not just locally, but on the state and national level. Always eager to assist and capable of being a diplomat, he helped countless contractors become better businessmen. While we will carry out the tasks that Tom started for MACCA and the trade, unfortunately there is only one Tom Davies and he is irreplaceable. We appreciate his work and commitment and hope we can continue his legacy.

Visitation will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
