

In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve, where he served until 1946. In 1944, Robertson served aboard the Liberty ship S.S. Morrison R. Waite, where he survived an attack from a Japanese kamikaze in Leyte Gulf during the Allied invasion of the Philippines.
In 1946, Robertson was assigned to the 8th Naval District headquarters. During that time, he met Aldorise Strachan, of Mobile. The two married March 22, 1946. Robertson received a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws from Spring Hill College in Mobile and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama. Robertson practiced law in Mobile, where he served for seven years as circuit judge in the 13th Judicial Circuit of Alabama. He then served for 12 years as the United States Chief Administrative Law Judge for the Office of Hearings and Appeals. Robertson was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, Mobile County Bar Association, Alabama Bar Association, American Bar Association and Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Robertson was a lover of music and an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He was an accomplished teacher, caller and choreographer of square dance music, recording seven albums of square dance calls.
He is survived by his wife, Aldorise Strachan Robertson; his brother, Harold Robertson and wife Earline, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and much-loved nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his brothers Eugene Robertson, of Muncie, Ind.; Harlan Robertson, of Birmingham, Ala.; and Henry Robertson, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and sisters Avice Hutchings, of Pontiac, Mich.; Irene Davis, Nona Jett and Mildred Crunk, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St. in Mobile, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Caldwell, Ronnie McRae, Rodger Lanier, Eli Hernandez, Donnie Hendry, Steve Knight, Ed Knight, D.R. Stallworth, Michael Stallworth, Monte Stallworth, Harold Strachan, David Strachan, Bill Robertson and Walter Buckner. Robertson will be interred at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Road in Mobile.
