
Jack was a member of the Murphy High School Class of 1949, graduated from Spring Hill College, and earned a Master's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked at Brookley Air Force Base for 10 years and finished his career at Litton/Ingall's Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS as a logistics manager after more than 20 years of service. He was a Korean Conflict veteran of the United States Army, was very active in youth baseball at Duval/Matrie Park during the 60's and 70's, and was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Desmon Shoulders; three sisters, Janie Reed, Ann Brock, and Rebecca Papas; and one brother, John B. Shoulders. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Jane Shoulders; sons, Jon T. Shoulders (Corinne), Jimmy D. Shoulders (Tracy), Jerry W. Shoulders, and Joe W. Shoulders (Lori); grandchildren, Leigh, Taylor, Mary Mikell, Alex, Jamie, Jack, Bentley, and Dawson Shoulders; brother, Bob Shoulders; other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staffs of Crowne Health Care, the William F. Green State Veterans Home, and North Baldwin Infirmary for all of their loving care and support.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Little Flowers Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Reverend John G. Lynes serving as Celebrant of the Mass. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the mass. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
