Mr. Benefield had worked for Smith's Bakery for 17 years and then retired from Wal Mart after 16 years of service. He served in the US Navy in Korea. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Benefield; mother, Myrtle Moseley; brother, Darrell Benefield and his son, Roger Benefield. He is survived by his wife, Hazel West Benefield; 5 children, James Edward Benefield, David (Connie) Benefield, Carlene Adkin-son, Russell (JoAnn) Benefield, Sr., Angela (Robert) Serigny; 1 brother, Douglas Benefield; 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2 PM. Visitation will start at 1 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
