Jim was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and was a graduate of St. John’s University where he received his Degree in Finance, class of 1959. In 1983 he moved to Mobile, Alabama where he retired from International Paper Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was on the Parish Council. Jim volunteered with the Mobile Rape Crisis Council and with the Mobile Literacy Council, where he helped adults learn to read. He completed the Mobile Citizens Police Academy and holds the record as being the oldest citizen ever voluntarily tazed at the academy. While living in upstate New York, he enjoyed winter sports. His poor piloting skills resulted in many damaged snow toboggans and children scattered about the slopes. He and his children spent many hours cross country skiing on golf courses and when the snow melted, Jim would be found golfing with friends. He was quite the handy man, passing along his many skills to his sons and leaves behind a treasure of tools and gadgets. Jim was a devout Catholic and he always stood on the right side of the moral question. He was known for his witty sense of humor and always had a good story to tell and retell. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6300 McKenna Drive, Mobile, AL 36608. Telephone: 251-342-1852. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim's name to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Building Fund.
