

While holding his hand James passed at 6:15 a.m. from results of complications from Aspiration Pneumonia, causing his organs to decline rapidly. Jim’s wishes were to be cremated with no service. He stated to ‘Do something better with your money and time for someone else who needs it.” Jim known to his family in Georgia as Tom, never left you without making you smile or laugh from his words of wisdom or a question he could not keep from asking.
He graduated from West Fannin High in Blue Ridge, Georgia, he moved to Florida, worked for NASA while surfing Cocoa Beach. He moved to New York to work for JFK International Airport, then back to Florida shortly before starting his adventure to California with the idea to surf the big waves. He ran out of money in Mobile, Alabama and this is where he settled. Jim became employed at Merchants Refrigeration moving his way up to GM of Mobile Processing. He later purchased the business and sold it prior to his retirement in 2016.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Roy Higdon, Sr., and Lillian Bonnie Thomas.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife ,Alice Nelson Higdon; children, Justin Matthew Higdon, Joshua Grant Higdon, step son, Joseph Anthony Stupack; step daughter, Megan Aleese Stupack; six grandchildren, siblings, Russell G. Higdon of Titusville, Florida and Marsha L. Holt of Melbourne, Florida also, survived by many relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Jim left a footprint on the hearts of all who was privileged to have known him. He will be greatly missed.
