Julia, just now hearing this sad and shocking news and I hope you have been doing well.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Rick was an amazing person and I couldn't have had a better or more peaceful year than the one in which I was able to stay in 160A.  Rick was always prompt, curious, and told great stories from your adventures in the outdoors, with family, and your trips outside of the US.  I'm so sad to hear about his passing but am comforted to know that your life together radiated love and family even to those of us who weren't closely acquainted.  Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I just recently found out that Dr Rick passed away.  My heart is heavy with grief for his family and staff.  He was the best dentist I ever had.  I am honored to have known him.  I came down from Muscle Shoals when it was time for my dental visits because I couldn't imagine going to another dentist.  R I P Doctor Rick!!   You will be missed!

Have never said this before and probably never will again but War Eagle, Dr. RICK!  rtr.  Will miss you.

I found out about Dr. Ricks passing when I opened the leterr on Friday am October 10th. I just sat down and cried. Dr. Rick has been my dentist for so many years, I truly know he was one of the kindest men I have ever known. It is a loss for our community. I am so sorry to his home family and his work family.

I recently learned of the passing of one great man, Dr Rick Rutland. He was a truly holistic health care provider, not just a dentist. He has taken care of me for thirty years, he took care of my children's teeth. He used to refer to us as being "joined at the hip" because I spent so much time in his chair. We talked about so many things, his family, his adventures, we shared jokes but the bottom line was always taking care of my well being. My heart is heavy for all who knew and loved him, his wife Julia, his boys, his daughters in law, his grandchildren, his friends and all the loyal patients. There is a huge gap in the lives of many. I believe Rick Rutland has lived a life of caring for others and will leave a legacy that will live on and on. God has him.

It's been 2wks since Dr Rick has passed.  Sometimes  we think he is going to walk thru the back door with his backpack slung over his shoulder.....knowing good and well that he is not.  Everyday we cry over our loss, and laugh over our memories.  Dr Rick was far more than our boss.   We were more that just employees.  We were a family.    Were so glad to have had the privilege to work with such a fabulous man!

Julia I just heard this morning of Dr. Rutland's passing. I am in total shock and so sorry for your incredible loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

I have always been afraid of going to the dentist but on my first visit he made me feel so at ease that I didn't notice that he had finished and I was ready to go. I am so very sorry for the loss of such a great man and dentist.  He will be missed.

Dr. Rick was such a lovely, calming person and a great dentist.  My teeth have been really cared for these last ten years!  I feel like I've lost a member of my family and I know he is already missed by so many people.  Sending prayers to his family, staff and many, many friends.

I just received word that Dr. Rick had passed away and my heart is so heavy. He was my dentist for almost 20 years and gave me my smile back.  He was also kind and generous.  Being an avid dog lover myself, I loved hearing him tell stories about his pets.  He made going to the dentist a treat and that is hard to do!  He will be very missed. Shocked today to just learn about Rick's death.  I always looked forward to my dental appointments.......how many people can say that?!  He was a kind, caring, fun person and will be missed by all that knew him. Julia I have known you for many years from the wonderful days of Grand Blvd. All the way to now and Pro Health.  Ricky as he was known at St. Pius was a really great guy. So glad I recently had a chance to visit with him and get a big hug and catch up on family and life in general, as we waited for our Chinese take out orders. Although I only knew Rick through our profession he was always so generous and encouraging especially with out mutual patients.
