James W. Sumrall Sr.

Mr. James W. Sumrall, Sr. - a native of Mobile, AL and a longtime resident of Chickasaw, AL died at the age of 93 on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the William F. Green Veteran's Home in Bay Minette, AL.

Mr. Sumrall was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and retired from the Mobile Area Water and Sewer Service. He was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knight at Council 666 of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Katherine Dobson Sumrall and Rosalie Skeen Sumrall.

Mr. Sumrall is survived by his children, Jane Helmich, Jim Sumrall, Jr., David (Becky) Sumrall, Leland Sumrall, Kathy Sumrall, JoAnn Vance, Clyde (Sarah) Skeen, and Cherie Skeen; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Chickasaw, AL. The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until 10 A.M. on Thursday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery.
