

James Eddie White, 86, of Terry, MS passed away May 22, 2015 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, James E. and Shirley White Lawrence. He was born December 13, 1928 to the parents of Gladys and Allen White. He was preceded in death by his first wife of nearly 50 years, Edith Boyette White; three sisters, Mildred Talbert, Frances Byrd, and Rita Nell Smith, and an infant grandson, Winston, Brackin Stewart, Jr. He later married Eddie Yvonne Thatch of Collinsville, MS who survives him. He is also survived by his four children from his first marriage. They are Shirley White Lawrence (James), Patricia Stewart, Michael White, and Eddie Allen White (Donna). He has seven grandchildren, Dr. Paul Lawrence (Carla), Cindy Lawrence Evans (Brad), Brad Stevens (Anne), Ashley Stewart, Jennifer White Carraway (Charles), Brandon White, and Dr. Timothy White (Danielle). He has nine great grandchildren; Nicole Erin-Edith Lawrence, Matthew, Jason and James Evans, Grace Stevens, Mali Carraway, Aiden, Anders and Caroline White. He is also survived by one step-son Barry Smith (Lisa) and three step-grandchildren; Hannah, Emily and Tyler.
In Mr. White’s early years he was the manager of several retail clothing businesses in Mobile, AL and Pascagoula, MS. In 1971 he and his wife Edith established Astrobrick and Stone Mfg., Co., Inc. He later retired leaving his sons to continue the business.
Mr. White’s many talents included the playing of various instruments, guitar, piano and violin. His love of gospel and blue grass music was shared with all. He loved to teach others the many instruments he enjoyed. His other hobbies included gardening in which he loved to share the roses he planted. He also had an artistic ability in which he shared with grandchildren the pictures he had drawn through the years.
Visitation will be held from Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. chapel service.
