She was born to Sherwood and Johnnie Lee Poff on October 10, 1935, in Peoria, Illinois.
Janis was a dental hygienist for over 20 years before becoming a certified financial manager and division manager for Wadell and Reed.
She loved to garden – loved flowers. Janis adored animals. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and the ones she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Lee Poff.
Janis is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Michael Specht; nephew, Terry Lee Poff; nieces Karen Poff McGaha (Steve) and Diana Poff Byers (Gary); as well a host of great-nieces and nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 2020, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following.
Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
