Jerry Leon Deakle

Jerry Leon Deakle, a native of Union Church, Alabama and a lifelong resident of the Dawes community, died Tuesday, April 26th, 2011. Jerry was born on January 10th, 1936 to Jackson Zebulon and Ella Mae Deakle. A true man of the earth, Jerry was a loving husband and father whose greatest joys were found not only in his dedication to his family, but also in his passion for farming. He was a regular fixture at the area's farmer's markets and his great generosity and charity were known to all those he encountered. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha McClinton Deakle, children, Gary Deakle, Lila (Steve) Eardley, Sondra (Monte) Shumock, and Barbara (Rick) Dollison, his grandchildren, Lydia, Landon, Lindsey, Nicolas, Sarah, Scott, Andrew, and William, one great granddaughter, Savannah, and siblings, Emmett "Bud" Deakle, Francis Campbell, and Carl Deakle. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held at Mobile Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 28th at 2:00pm, with visitation from 12:00pm until 2:00pm..
