Jessie B. Wade

Jessie was born October 12, 1937, in Mobile, AL to Unavay and R.D. Byrd from Tanner Williams. She was a graduate of Semmes High School. Jessie was a substitute teacher for over 30 years at Mary G. Montgomery High School. She was very helpful and loving to numerous people in her lifetime, up until she became unable to continue. She set a tremendous example of faith, love of family, strength of character, and was a source of knowledge and guidance to all who knew her.

Jessie is survived by her son; Michael Wade (Donna), daughter; Janet Wade Cathell (Jody Hurst), five grandchildren; Heather Stafford (Nick), Amanda Martin (Justin), Michelle Walker (Byron), Camden Cathell, and Evelyn Hurst, six great grandchildren; Hadleigh Stafford, Colson Stafford, Annabeth Martin, Jackson “Jax” Martin, Emma Claire Martin, and Arietta “Ari” Walker, three sisters; Joyce Byrd, Johnnie Thompson, and Janice McKinnion, and many other family and friends that will miss Jessie deeply.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; Unavay and R.D. Byrd, husband; Otis “Junior” Wade, and son; Mark Wade.

Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. Another visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 10am to the 11am funeral hour at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. There will be a graveside service immediately following the funeral at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilmer, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palestine Missionary Baptist Church in Jessie's memory.
