

Joan Carroll Hauser 86, joined our Lord and Savior Thursday, August 3, 2017. A loving wife and mother and respected piano teacher of more than 50 years in Mobile, Joan passed away at her home after a long battle with dementia. She was born July 15, 1931 in Montgomery, AL to the late Foy Richard Carroll Sr. and Edna Bryce Carroll. She attended the Birmingham Conservatory of Music where she received a Bachelor of Music in Piano and Birmingham Southern College where she received a Master of Music. She made a career of teaching piano and was a member of the National, Alabama and Mobile Music Teachers Associations, the Clara Schumann Club and the Mobile Piano Ensemble Club. She loved to play tennis, vacation at the beach and was an active member of Forest Hill United Methodist with her beloved husband, the late Conrad Joseph Hauser Jr. They were married 42 years. She is preceded in death by her twin sister Jean Stewart (Doug) and brother, Foy Richard Carroll Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Hauser Navia (Carlos), son, Philip Conrad Hauser (Laura), daughter Amy Hauser Smith (Michael) and grandchildren, James Navia, Gabrielle Navia, Rebecca Navia, Gretchen Hauser, Connie Hauser, Julia Hauser, Benjamin Smith, and Rachel Smith. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with a funeral service following at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Pkwy. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Joan's name to a charity of your choice.
