
John Vincent Centamore, 71, passed away Thursday May 24th 2012 in Mobile, AL. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, and friend and a tireless servant of the church and the community. John is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and a niece and is survived by his wife, Sandra, his children John Jr., Deborah, Patrick, Kara, and Christopher, fourteen grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. A graduate of Hartwick College, John served in the Air Force in Vietnam before beginning a successful career as a purchasing manager. John spent his retirement serving others as a volunteer coordinator for disaster relief, a church leader, a youth mentor, and a teacher of civics and citizenship for new citizens. In addition to building a large loving family, the accomplishments of which John was most proud included building extensive baseball complexes in Warren, PA, and rebuilding hundreds of homes in Bayou La Batre, AL after hurricane Katrina. John was a lifelong lover of barbershop harmony and was a past president of the Pride of Mobile Chorus. John would welcome donations in his memory to Lutheran Disaster Relief (8765 West Higgins Rd, Chicago, IL 60631) or the Red Cross. Visitation will take place at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile on Monday May 28th, 6-8pm and at Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill, Al Tuesday May 29th, 10-11am followed by a service at 11am
