John Lawrence Tait Sr.

John Lawrence Tait, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2024. He was 79. John was born to Robert A. and Martha K. Tait on July 13, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama. He was a graduate of Vigor High School, Class of 1963. John retired as plant manager from Dairy Fresh after 42 years of service. He enjoyed camping, farming, woodworking, being at the beach – and was an avid fisherman. Of all of John’s accomplishments, his greatest was by far his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Martha K. Tait.

John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret M. Tait; sons, Larry (Patty) Tait and David (Kathy) Tait; daughters, Kathy (Damon) Cox and Robin Lopez; sisters, Janice Coleman and Donna (Alan) Paige; grandchildren, Heather (John Cody) Hestand, John III (Brandy) Tait, Kristen (Ryan) Wigham; Miranda (Steve) Tait, Taylor (Matt) Fortener, Danielle (Hunter) Webb, and J.J. (Emily) Finchum; as well as a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation for John will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
