
John Edward Tomberlin, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away at Providence Hospital on Monday, September 2, 2013. Mr. Tomberlin served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed with the Department of Defense, United States Government, as a Quality Engineer. He was Administrative Chief of the Mobile Area, duty station at Teledye Continental Motors, Atlanta region until his retirement. He received numerous awards, including Meritorious Civilian Service Award for his selection as the Quality Assurance Representative of the Year. He was an active member of Corpus Christi Church and a member of a Mobile Mystic Society. Mr. Tomberlin is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cook Earl Tomberlin, Sr.; brothers, Cook Earl Tomberlin, Jr., Terry Tomberlin, Sr. and Robert Montgomery Tomberlin. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Moungey Tomberlin; his daughter, Cynthia Tomberlin Meador and her husband William Meador; three grandchildren; Elizabeth Meador Allen (John), Margaret Meador Barnhill (Phillip) and William Edward Meador. Pallbearers will be; Robert Tomberlin, Jr., Douglas Tomberlin, David Tomberlin, Michael Lee, Sr. Murray Meador and Joe Quina. Honorary pallbearers will be; Dr. Robert Israel, Dr. William Park, III, Frank Bolling, Domonick Martina, Charles Robinson, William Tomberlin, Larry Patterson, Lynwood Cayton and Terry Tomberlin, Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Corpus Christi Church. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
