

Josephine Martin Kerlin, a long time resident of Mobile, died on Friday, September 12, 2014, after a short illness. She was 93 years old. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Old Springhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home, prior to the graveside service. “Jo” was born January 29, 1921 in Dothan, Alabama to Ennoree Crymes Martin and Fred H. Martin, but grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. She graduated from Alabama College (now the University of Montevallo) in 1943, with Honors, with a BA in Social Work. She was the long time Director of the Florence Crittenton Home in Mobile. Jo was active in civic, social, and services organizations and was a long time member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Homer Eason Kerlin, and daughter, Patsy K. McLeod. Jo was an only child. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon K. McMillin of Mobile, three sons, Wayne M (Lucy) Kerlin and Larry H. (Debbie) Kerlin of Mobile and Bruce A. (Beth) Kerlin of Mandeville. LA; eight grandchildren; Robyn McLeod (Matt) DeBlaey; Jane McLeod (Jay) Betbeze; Adele C. Kerlin; all of Mobile, Chadwick M “Chad” Kerlin of New Orleans, LA; John Allen (Stacy) McLeod of Los Angeles, CA, Ashleigh D. Kerlin of Birmingham; Rev Laura Allen Kerlin of Greenville, SC, and Emily Kerlin (Joe) Bergeron of Mandeville, LA; two great-grandchildren, Trevor J and Cori L. DeBlaey of Mobile.
