Josephine Godwin McNeill

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Glen E. McNeill. They lived in the houses he built in Mobile and Dauphin Island, Alabama.

Mrs. McNeill was born and raised in Mobile, AL., the fourth child of Ollie and Bessie Clarke Godwin. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wallace “Bubba” and Jacob Godwin and one sister, Sister Frances de Sales “Day” McBride, and an infant sibling. She is survived by two sisters, Kathleen “Kitty” Rice and Corinne “Cookie” Darawich.

Lovingly remembered as “Mommie” and “Mom”, Jo is survived by her four children, Kathleen “Little One” Shaw, Glenda (Jack) Rodenbaugh, Glen “Chip” E. McNeill, Jr. (Josh), and Kenneth C. (Allyson) McNeill; Grandchildren, Gordon “Allen” Shaw, Glen Michael Shaw, Tara Dobbs Rogers, Richard T. “Rick” Dobbs, Jr., Kasey Jo McNeill (Greg) and Glen Austin McNeill; Great-Grandchildren, Kaleb, Stella, Clayton, Cameron, Devry, Chase, Ashtyn, Brooke, Isabella and many other family members and friends.

Josephine was the owner/operator of “Jo’s Beauty Salon”, for many years. Jo’s career as a hairdresser allowed her to work from her salon at home while caring for her children; she did it all.

In remembrance of Jo, the family is holding a private service where her life will be celebrated and lovingly honored. Visitation for friends of the family may come to show their respect from 1:00 - 1:45 on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL.
