

Ken was born and raised in Heflin, Alabama, and then moved to Oxford, Alabama with his parents as a child. Ken graduated from Oxford High School in 1959. He attended Jacksonville University in North Alabama, entered the ROTC program, and graduated in 1963. Upon graduation, Ken was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army. He served in Austin, Texas during the Vietnam Era as the commander of a missile battery for the United States Air Defense Artillery.
Upon finishing his military service, Ken continued his academic studies at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, completing both the Masters and Doctorate in Mathematics by 1971. It was there that he met his wife of 59 years, Sandra Yawn. They were married in 1966.
They then moved to Mobile, where they have resided for the past 50 years. Ken was a Professor of Mathematics at the University of South Alabama. He also worked for the Burroughs Computer Company. Then, he and Sandra, decided to follow their passion for antiques. They went into business, at various times specializing in art glass, fine collectibles, and then collectible books from Mobile and Alabama at large, a business spanning over twenty-two years.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, and many cousins and relatives. Special thanks go to his VA Home Health Aides, Kaleigha and Sharde'.
The visitation will be Monday, August 4th, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama followed by the funeral service in the Radney Chapel at 11 a.m. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 Alabama Highway 225, Spanish Fort, Alabama.
