Lee Arnold Shoquist, age 87, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of September 15, 2022 surrounded by his family. He had just celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary with his wife Louise on September 14th. Lee was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Lee was originally from Virginia, Minnesota, he moved to Pensacola, where he was stationed as a Naval Cadet. He met his future wife, Louise, in Gulf Shores in June of 1956 and was then sent to Beville, Texas to go to advance flight school. When Lee left the service, he moved to Mobile, and he and Louise were married.
He received his undergraduate education degree from Springhill College, his Master’s degree from the University of South Alabama, and his AA degree from the University of Alabama. He taught Government at Vigor High School for 10 years and then moved into Administration. He was an Assistant Principal at Davidson High School, Principal at Scarborough Middle School and completed his service in Education at Satsuma High School where he was the Principal for 17 years. He loved teaching, his students and his teachers. He was very active with school life attending countless events.
Upon retiring, he began the most wonderful life of retirement by traveling all over the world. He loved fishing, hunting, reading, working in the yard, and his dog Lulu, but most of all he loved Alabama Football and Minnesota Twins baseball.
He is survived by his wife Louise, son, Hobie (Nancy) of Mobile, daughter, Amy Roe (Brent) of Mobile and his granddaughter Macy Hart (Braxton) of Foley. Macy was his only grandchild, and they shared a special loving bond.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St. Mobile, Al 36606
