

He was a 1956 graduate of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School. After high school he entered the United States Army and later worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He also attended Rose Automotive Institute where he received training/certification as a transmission specialist. Lemuel later worked for Joe Bullard Automotive, before starting his own transmission repair business, Dickinson Transmission, for over 45 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Lemuel enjoyed taking care of his Paso Fino and Tennessee Walking horses. He was also a member of Mobile County Sheriff’s Posse and Bay Area Riding Club.
Lemuel was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Dickinson and Margaret English Dickinson, brother Ted Parker, and sister Joan Elinor Dickinson. He is survived by Jestine Massey Dickinson, his spouse of 50 years. Daughters, LePrêt Dickinson Williams and Lynda Janelle Dickinson; Grandchildren, Kaylyn Williams, Solomon Williams, IV, and Reagan Dickinson Knight. He also leaves to cherish his memory six sisters, Gloria Rainey, Rose Juzang, Doris Rainey, Leslie White, Margaret (Rudy) Lewis, and Patricia (Vernon) Crawford. Three godchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, April 22, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1621 Boykin Blvd. Mobile, AL 36605. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
