

Leo S. Barginear - Died Monday, December 27, 2010, in a local hospital after a valiant fight of a long term illness. He was born in Coden, AL on October 1, 1927. He retired from the U.S. Civil Service at Brookley Field in Mobile, AL and the Bayou La Batre Police Department. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, always supporting his country and his family. Mr. Barginear was a long standing member of the International Order of Oddfellows, Bay Shore Lodge #247 in Bayou La Batre. He joined the Lodge in 1953, and stood as the current Noble Grand with Fellowship, Love and Truth. He served as Grand Master from 2004 to 2005. Mr. Barginear was a charter member of the Bayou La Batre VFW Post and was a life member of American Legion Post #88. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Ruby F. Bateman Barginear. He is survived by his loving second wife, Debra A. Barginear; his adoring children, two sons, Leo S. "Butch" (Julie) Barginear, Jr. and Richard (Rhonda) Barginear; two daughters, G. Wanda (Michael J.) Bosarge and Deborah (Terry) Lowe; two step-sons, Sean (Kim) Merchant and Paul (Sabine) Merchant; one sister, Clara Gilmore; six grandchildren, Myra, Richard, Erik, Masada, Keith, and Shelli; six great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held from Oddfellows Hall on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Oddfellows Hall.
