Lloyd E. Allen passed peacefully on November 19, 2015 in Mobile Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Gale Allen, and Bernice Leora Allen, and two brothers, Larry G. Allen and Lewis B. Allen. He is survived by his loving wife Jolene Holyoak Allen, his sister Joy Wines of Washington, 5 children including daughter Stephanie (Ted) Graham of Guntersville, AL, sons L. Kirk (Daphne) Allen of Frisco, TX, Christopher (Keli) Allen of Birmingham, AL, and daughters Stacie (Mark) Constantine and Storrie (Glynn) Smith, both of Mobile, AL. His legacy includes 22 beautiful grandchildren, 3 precious great-grandchildren and one on the way, who all adored “Paw-Paw” and his fluffy “pan-a-cakes”.
Lloyd was born in Drummond, Montana and raised on a cattle ranch. He attended Yakima Valley College in Spokane, Washington and eventually met Jolene in Great Falls, MT. They later married in the Idaho Falls LDS temple, and began raising their family in Montana, Utah and Alabama. He served as a full-time missionary for 3 years for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Far East (Japan) mission after high school. His life was always centered around missionary work and gospel principles. He was blessed to serve in many capacities for the church, including Bishop, High Councilor and Gospel Doctrine instructor. Lloyd loved the youth of the church and taught early morning seminary for several years. His infamous scripture chasing techniques and scripture “funnies” are still passed on today.
Professional endeavors include Commercial Property Management for Clark Financial (Salt Lake City, Utah) and The Mitchell Company (Mobile, AL), working as a Life Insurance agent, and employment with FEMA. He was always concerned with taking care of people and meeting their needs, no matter how great or small. His many friends and colleagues through his business dealings have played an important part of his life.
Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5520 Zeigler Blvd, on November 25, 2015 from 12:00 – 1:45 pm, with services starting at 2:00 pm. Internment will be at Pine Crest West Cemetery located on Snow Road, following the services.
