Lorena Ponder Miller

Lorena Ponder Miller (Nanny) passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was a shining example to all of her family and many people with whom she came in contact. She was a lady of many interests. An accomplished artist, well-read, and stood on conservative principles that she shared with her family frequently. Although she did not have a business background she had the uncanny ability to understand many of the fundamentals of that side of life. Her reading, although history based, had an incredible range and her recall of much of the material was amazing. She was always keenly interested in what was going on with her family; wanting to know of all the activities in which they were involved. Her guiding light carried a theme of love, responsibility and a deeply spiritual belief in the Lord. She was preceded in death by Ray Harrison Miller, Jr., her wonderful husband of sixty-five years. She is survived by three children, Ray Harrison Miller, III (Becky), Merrill Wright Miller and William Holden Miller (Rae Rae), granddaughters, Merrill Miller Arendall (Alex) and Bradley Miller Martens (Charlie), Adele Fitch Miller and Margaret Miller Clement (James), six great-grandchildren, Nancy Gray Arendall, Robert Alexander Arendall, IV, Charles Scott Martens, Ray Harrison Martens, Lillian (Lila) Miller Arendall and Adele Williams Miller. There will be a visitation at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in the Parish Hall on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Flower Guild of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Road Spring Hill, Mobile, AL 36608.
