Louise Ransom “Rancey” Luce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robin Herndon Luce of Point Clear, died peacefully at her family home on Friday morning March 14, 2025. Rancey had a life long affliction with Rett Syndrome, a severe neurologic disorder that affects mainly girls. Her parents were very active in Biomedical Research for Rett, advocating and raising funds to overcome the disease. Rancey had been a resident of the Mulherin Home in Mobile for several years
Rancey is survived by her parents, siblings – Mary Gaynor Luce Reynolds of Fairhope, Robin Herndon Luce Jr. of Charleston, and Thomas Vance McCown Luce of Mobile; as well as countless Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Chapel at Spring College on Monday, March 17. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. at the chapel with a memorial mass to follow at 3 p.m.
To know Rancey was to know an angel. She taught so much to her family and everyone who came in contact with her in her 34 years on earth – without having to say a word. Join us in gratitude for Rancey’s life and in thanksgiving that she is finally home.
