

Lucille Tapia Kilcullen died October 30, 2010 at Providence Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years E. Patrick Kilcullen, daughter Michele Kilcullen Coody, brother Hays Joseph Tapia, grandsons Brian Kilcullen and Eric McCoy, son-in-law Barry L. McCoy, four great grandchildren Charles, Lawrence, Lily and Patrick Marks.
She is survived by four children, Michael P. Kilcullen, John (Lana) Kilcullen of Mobile, Dennis (Colleen) Kilcullen of Tallahassee, and Maureen Kilcullen McCoy of Gulf Shores. Eleven Grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two pending.
She was a 1939 graduate of Murphy High School and was the first president of the new chapter of Alpha Chi Omega. As a homemaker and wife she served on numerous civic boards: St. Mary’s Home Auxiliary, Ladies of Charity. She was president of Mobile Archdioceses Council of Catholic Women, President of Ladies Auxiliary of the Alabama National Guard. A Founding member and Past President of the ACCW Priest Burse Club in Mobile. She worked as a house mother for Catholic Social Services Unwed Mother Program from 1970 to 1973. During the transition period, when the Allen Memorial Home began its Geriatric Patient Care program in 1973, she planned and organized the movement of AMH to its present location. She continued to serve as director of the Public Relation and Volunteer Fund Raiser for Allen Memorial Home until her retirement in 1993. Longstanding member of St. Dominic’s Parish she continued her devoted service leading and serving on numerous parish ministries and charitable work. In 1960 she received the Papal medal Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, from Pope John XXIII for service to church and country.
A rosary led by the ACCW Burse club will take place at Radney’s Funeral Home Dauphine Street at 6:30pm. Visitation at St. Dominic Catholic Church will be at 10 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Internment will be at Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts to the ACCW Priest Burse Club at 400 Government Street Mobile, AL 36602 Or Joy to Life Foundation which assist women with Breast Cancer, P.O. Box 241172 Montgomery, AL 36134-1172 in Memory of her daughter Michele Kilcullen Coody.
