Margaret Locklier Loper, 96, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 in Hoover, AL. Margaret was a long-time resident of Mobile. She retired from JCPenney and was the Assistant Manager of Shoe Department. Margaret was an amazing cook – and loved to cook for her family. She was Salad Master agent for years. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Leo Franklin Loper; son, Larry E. Loper; parents, Benjamin D. Locklier and Lena M. Locklier; brothers, Earl, Eugene, Jerome, Lamar, and Bobby Locklier; and sons-in-law, James Terry Phillips and Palmer Benjamin Byrne.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Peggy Phillips; son, Terry (Holly) Loper, Sr.; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
