

Margaret Ann Martin died Sunday afternoon, November 21st surrounded by her family at the Mobile Infirmary and now resides in heaven with her King and Lord Jesus Christ. Margaret Ann was a beacon of love and compassion, never met a stranger and loved all of God’s children. She is survived by her ex-husband, James Hamil of Laurel, MS, two sons and daughters-in-law whom she loved without end, James Barton and Debby Bemis Hamil of Mobile, AL and Steven Martin and Susan Werling Hamil of Charlotte, NC, two loving sisters, Missie Martin (and her longtime companion John Downing) of Mobile, AL and Kay Cosby Lee (and her husband Mitchell Lee) of State Line, MS, both of whom were her best friends, her loving stepfather, William Burns Cosby of State Line, MS, six nieces and nephews (Donnie Overstreet of Fayetteville, NC, Beverly Zalewski of Boca Raton, FL, Eric and Allison Overstreet of Mobile, AL, Matt Lee of Madison, MS and Lindsey Lee of State Line, MS), her beloved first cousins Mary Haygood Thompson, Charles Ray Calderaro, Bobbie Busby and Mert Lewis and numerous other cousins. Nana adored her six grandchildren, Braxton, Jackson and McKenzie Hamil of Mobile, AL and Forrest, William and Elizabeth Anne Hamil of Charlotte, NC. They will miss their Nana greatly. Margaret Ann was a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, graduated from Murphy High School in 1960, was the 1979 Queen of the Order of Incas and touched everyone she met with a gentle nature and a unique sense of humor. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Tuesday evening, November 23rd from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 24th, at 9 a.m. with a graveside service/internment ceremony to follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
