Mary Catherine Allen Smith – A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, in a local hospital. Mrs. Smith was an active member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church for 30 years. She was past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile and worked for over 30 years as manager for Masters, Mates and Pilots. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. H. “Buck” Smith. Survivors include her nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Bill Whitfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Soloist is Porter Roberts and accompanist is Larry Newell. Honorary pallbearers are the past Queens of the Daughters of the Nile. Active pallbearers are Bruce Reagan, Charles Allen, David Allen, Bill Freidhoff, Lawren McCaghren, and Ward Faulk.
