

The world lost a dear mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, wife and friend to many with the sudden passing of Mary Jane Coleman Jackson on December 12, 2021. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. The funeral services will be held on Friday December 17 at St. Pius X Catholic Church beginning with a visitation from 9am-10am, Eulogy/Rosary at 10:00 followed by a Mass at 10:30.
She was born in Harrisburg, Illinois on February 16, 1930 to Nell and William Walter Wheatley. Mary Jane met Don La Monte Coleman in St. Louis where she was studying to be a nurse and he was stationed in the U.S. Army. They were married on December 20, 1950. She and Don continued to live on Army bases in Kansas and Louisiana followed by a move to Alabama where they lived in Birmingham, Citronelle and eventually moved to Mobile in 1974. They became active members of St. Pius X Catholic Church and hosted prayer groups in their home. Daughter, Leta, attended the school as well.
Mary Jane worked in various careers including Real Estate, Color Analysis Consulting, and even founded her own online company- S’cool Colors Flip Flops http://www.schoolcolorsflipflops.com. She had a full schedule that included her favorite hobbies: cruising, decoupage, sewing, golfing, sailing, bridge, bunco, cooking and entertaining and cheering on the “Crimson Tide” football team. She loved shopping and sharing her good finds with others. She was a member of Heron Lakes Country Club and won the club’s 2014 Member Golf Tournament.
She became a widow in November of 2008. She met Horace “Bubba” Jackson while playing in a local golf tournament. She married Bubba at St. Pius X Catholic Church on May 9th of 2015. To celebrate their marriage, they honeymooned on a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean. As a couple they were very active in the community and they were so cute-holding hands everywhere they went.
She loved her children: Donnie, Randy, Tom and Leta as well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Bubba; Daughter, Leta Jane Salazar (John); sons, Tom Coleman (Barbara) and Randy Coleman (Helan); Granddaughters, Staci Mitchell (Stephen), Natalie Miller (Chase), Paula Salazar, and Alena Salazar; Grandsons, Donnie (Reyna), Stan, Randy and Clayton. Great-grandchildren include Aidan, Camilla, Graham, Monte, Jacob and Coleman.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Don La Monte Coleman; and son, Don La Monte Coleman Junior.
