

Helen Morris Eckert - age 96, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, most recently a resident of Catherine Place, Daphne, AL, died March 1, 2011. Mrs. Eckert was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. A devout Catholic, she was an early parishioner of Little Flower Church and later St. Ignatius Church for many years, where she was an active member of the Legion of Mary. She was an accomplished bridge player, and spent many happy hours at this pastime. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Eckert, Sr.; her sisters, Mary Jane Morris Penny, and Louise Morris Durrett; and two brothers, Robert B. Morris and E. Norville Morris. She is survived by three sons, Robert J. Eckert, Jr. (Mary Estelle), of Mobile, AL, David P. Eckert, of Monterey, LA ( friend, Carole Graf of Mobile, AL), and M. Don Eckert (Christine), of Sulphur, LA; nine grandchildren, Julie E. Baker (Joseph H.), Patrick Eckert, April Eckert of Matthews, MO, David Eckert, Jr. of Starksville, MS, Kelly E. Dillon (Matthew) of Tupelo, MS, Jennifer E. Comeaux (Lucas) of Carencro, LA, Amanda Clare Eckert of Covington, LA, Michael D. Eckert, Jr. and Andrew E. Eckert of Sulphur, LA; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mrs. Regina W. Morris; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Friday, March 4, 2011. Visitation will precede the mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at the Marian Center at St. Ignatius. Interment will follow at Catholic Cemetery.
