

Was born November 30, 1929 in Bessemer, AL. and passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012. She has been a resident of Mobile, AL for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Zutella Varner Holladay. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Grady H. Nichols, Jr. Two sons: Grady H. Nichols, III (Gene Steadman), and Wayne V. Nichols (Brenda Hill). Two grandsons, Grady H. Nichols, IV (Molly), and Joshua V. Nichols (Brandy) 3 step grandchildren, Timothy Simmons (Candace), James Simmons (Levitia), and Jennifer Simmons Cook (Laine). Seven Great grandsons: Joseph, Jaylin, Joshua, Jr., Jazzly, Grady H.V., Myles and Cameron: Her brother Robert Holladay (Fay): Her in-laws: W.C. and Nelly Hornady, Cecile Parrish, Bobby and Jane Nichols, John and Bonnie Nichols and Judy and Gary Sanders: 13 step grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for over 40 years. She and GH were in the choir and went on building trips to Habitat for Humanity. They loved to travel and had wonderful adventures all over the US and Canada. More recently she was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church and in the Glory Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. Her kindness and gentleness radiated to everyone she met. She was our family’s blessing beyond measure and in our hearts we will hold and cherish her forever.
A celebration of Mary’s life service will be held in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services. The services will be officiated by the Rev. Ed Keys and Rev Arthur Burroughs .
