Born in Mobile, Alabama, Melissa was a daughter of the late Edward M. Miller and Carole Alexander Miller. She spent part of her childhood in New Orleans, Louisiana, before her family moved to Denver, Colorado. Melissa attended Saint Mary's Academy and later earned her Nursing degree from Regis University in Colorado.
While in Colorado, she had her two sons, Brian and William. Following her father's death, she returned to Mobile, Alabama, with her son Brian and her mother.
Melissa had a deep passion for animals, finding joy and companionship in her furry, hairy, feathered, and sometimes scaled extended family. Especially beloved was her horse Batman that she learned to ride on and later her wild mustang Shelby.
Melissa was also a talented and enthusiastic crafter, enjoying a variety of projects including wood crafts, candle making, and jewelry. Melissa even learned to play the bass guitar later in life.
Melissa loved adventure, from small excursions to Dauphin Island to her memorable extended trip to Australia. She is now embarking on one last great adventure. One message she would want to pass on is don't wait to travel and have your own adventure. Take advantage of every opportunity while you can.
Melissa is survived by her two sons, Brian and William (Aaron). She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward M. Miller and Carole Alexander Miller.
