

Mr. Melvin Ray Dinkins, age 88, passed away at his home on Friday, December 27, 2019. Mr. Dinkins is preceded in death by his wife, Rhea Lee Dinkins, mother, Nena Cortwright, Father, A. A. Dinkins, Sr., brothers A.A. Dinkins, Jr., W. E. Dinkins, Sr., sisters; Frances Cazalas, Oddie Silva, Mary Jade Slay and Vera Mae Stegner.
Mr. Dinkins retired after 28 years from the United States Postal Service and served honorably in the United States Army for 2 years. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church for many years, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. A quiet and generous man, Melvin would often try to fulfill the needs of others he would encounter along life’s way.
Mr. Dinkins is survived by his daughters; Elizabeth L. Gregorius, Suzanne L. Summerlin (Ronald), Marlene R. Lawrence (Chris) and Jacqueline M. Fields (Brian). He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Ernandez, Fay Bennett, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-granddaughters.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Veterans Administration for all of their assistance over the years.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be offered to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until service time of 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will be in the Chapel of the Pines at Pine Crest Cemetery.
