Michael Anthony Conwell passed away on Friday October 12, 2018 at the age of 68 at his home in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Mike was born December 02, 1949 in Houma, Louisiana to Frank and Mary Conwell. The second of five children, Mike grew up in Mobile and graduated from Holy Family Catholic School and McGill Institute in 1967. He attended The University of South Alabama before volunteering to join the Alabama Army National Guard in 1969, serving in the 711th Signal Battalion until 1975. On August 30th 1980 Mike married the love of his life Kathleen Kelly Conwell spending 38 joyful years together. The owner of Alabama Gulf Manufacturing Corporation, Mike spent nearly 50 years in the lumber industry. A lifelong member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and several mystic organizations, Mike’s love for life was evident in his good natured approachable demeanor. Mike’s hobbies included rescuing stray dogs, boating, and Saints football. Mike is survived by his Wife Kathy Conwell, his siblings Susan and Peter Reichlin of Washington Crossing, PA, Mimi and Pete Peters of Mobile, AL, Jim and Megan Conwell of Fairhope AL, and Frank and Kate Conwell of Mobile, AL. as well as nine nieces and nephews and three great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A rosary and visitation will be held at 11 a.m. at the Marion Center at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Tuesday October 16th, 2018 with the Rite of Christian Burial immediately following at noon. Burial immediately to follow at Pine Crest West cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Third Coast Animal Shelter.
