She is predeceased by her parents, John & Clayrita Hybart Godwin, brothers, John “Jack” Godwin, Sandy Godwin and husband, Edward Crampton Harris, Jr. and father of her four children, Reuben Ludger Lapeyrouse.
Nancy is survived by her children, Stephen Ludger Lapeyrouse, Michael Lawrence Lapeyrouse (Katherine), John Godwin Lapeyrouse (Beth), Julie Lapeyrouse Hartley (Jeffery), 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren who brought her so much joy! She is also survived by her dear sister in law, Maybelle Godwin.
“Nanny” was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. A true southern lady, Nanny was kind to everyone she ever met. She avoided the spotlight but was always there to help others with her wonderful smile and encouraging spirit.
She will he remembered for her contagious laughter and giving spirit known by so many.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, followed by a celebration of her life in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow in Old Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
We would like to thank Rhea Donovan who has cared for our mom with such love and compassion during the past couple of years, and many other wonderful care givers who have loved her during the past decade.
