Memorial Services for Neal will take place Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 10:00 am at 3Circle Church in Fairhope, Alabama. Pastor Mike Megginson will officiate. Neal Frederic Shaw, 76, husband of Shannon Byrd Shaw, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
Neal was born on May 23, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Garry Vincent Shaw, Jr. and Ludie Mae Hartman Shaw. He attended Barton Academy Jr. High School, graduated from Murphy High School (1966) in Mobile, Alabama, received his Bachelor’s degree from University of South Alabama where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity (1971), and his MBA from Creighton University’s Heider College of Business in Omaha, Nebraska (received in 1991 while raising his family and working full time!).
Neal and Shannon were married for over 50 years, lovingly calling themselves “peanut butter and jelly.” Neal loved the Lord, had a quiet, servant heart and was a faithful, active member of 3Circle Church in Fairhope, AL, including two small groups and a men’s group that became brothers in Christ.
He enjoyed doo-wop music, old cars, and could fix literally everything himself. He was steadfast in his faith and is credited by so many for leading them to Christ, including writing and sending out a daily prayer for over two decades to hundreds of friends, family and those he never met who requested to be included. His servant heart extended to his clients and co-workers in the oil and gas business for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon, and his four daughters: Morgan Shaw Parker (Jeff) of Atlanta, GA and their two children Lincoln and Grayson, Jennifer Boykin Watson (Jason) of Ft. Leavenworth, KS and their three children, Caedmon, Aubrey and Addy, Rebecca Shaw Whitener (Jeff) of Mobile, AL and their two daughters Allie and Lucy, Susan Shaw Douberly (Jerrad) of Fairhope, AL and their four children Quynn Shaw and Kaitlin, Megan, and Hayden Douberly, Neal and Shannon’s niece, Salena Rose Shaw of Crestview, FL (Mariusz), and their nephew, Christopher David Shaw of Leesburg, GA (Haley) and their two daughters (Mally and Macie).
Following the service, the family will host friends and loved ones for a light lunch in the foyer of 3Circle Church.
A private family internment will take place later in the week.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dan Cameron, M.D., Dr. Marty Heslin, M.D., M.S.H.A., Drew Cornelius, CRNP, and all of the caregivers at Mitchell Cancer Institute in Fairhope, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to 3Circle Church at 10274 SR-104, Fairhope, AL 36532.
