Nellie Dee Davidson Davis

Nellie D. Davidson Davis, born September 5, 1923, the last charter member of Indian Springs, now Pathway Church of God, died December 29, 2011 at her home in Semmes. She was a woman of faith who followed the command of God to “love one another.” She was a Proverbs 31 woman of God whose prayers and spiritual guidance affected time and eternity. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Davis, two daughters Kathryn Elizabeth Davis, LaDonna Davis Ferguson, and two great-grandchildren Natalie and Nathanael George. She is survived by her son Gene and Sue Davis; her daughters Barbara and Raymond Williams, Nelda and Bill George, and Paulette Davis. She was proud to be “Big Mama” to her grandchildren: Greg and Rhonda Davis, Donald and Gigi Davis, Ray and Robin Williams, Kathy and Stanley Sheffield, Robbie and Paula Williams, Mike and Ana George, David and Ali George, Tony Davis, Elizabeth Davis, and Melody and Richard Owens. Her great-grandchildren are Jamie, Jeremy, Zachary, and Delaney Davis; Chase and April Williams, Tyler and Sarah Beth Williams, Holly, Rebekah, Robby-Ellen, Emma, and Stella Williams; Ley, Lauryn, and Davis Sheffield; Anita. Eli, Mia, and Kai George; KayLee and Abigail Davis, and great grandsons to Canaan and Jackson Williams. She is also survived by her sister Ethel Curry and her brother James Davidson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and neighbors. Services will be conducted by Pastor Joey Turman assisted by Pastor Andric Daugherty and Pastor Henry McDuffie. Mother’s pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Pathway Church of God, 7200 Moffett Rd. January 1 from 4 PM until 8 PM. The funeral will be at Pathway on Monday January 2 at 10 AM. Interment will be in Indian Springs Cemetery on Lott Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Path To Greatness Scholarship Fund at Pathway Church of God, 7200 Moffett Rd.
