Nicholas Emanuel Kotis

Lifelong Mobile resident, Nicholas Emanuel Kotis passed away quietly at a local hospice on April 15th at 4:08 a.m. Mr. Kotis was a WWII veteran who served at Okinawa and Osaka Japan in the US Army as a private. He was a Murphy High School graduate who would later receive his training in electronic communications. He worked at Brookley and Keesler Air Force bases before being accepted as an electronics technician for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he served for 36 years.

Mr. Kotis was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Laura Jean Brewton of Mobile, brothers James C. Kotis II, Theodore Kotis, Edward Kotis, Charles Kotis, and Leon Kotis; sisters Mary Phillips, Helen Ferguson, Katherine Joines, Irene Allred, Cynthia Gebsen; nephews Mike Fersuson, Steve Allred, Ted Kotis, and Greg Kotis.

He is survived by his stepson, Peter J. Washburn of Diamondhead, Mississippi, nephew James C. Kotis III of Mobile, niece Constance K. Read of Lilian, AL, nephew Christopher Kotis of Theodore, nephew Edward Kotis of Houston, niece Sharon Gillum of Sacramento, niece Cynthia Leffler of Sacramento, Linda Kotis of Washington, DC and her daughter Madeleine Katz, Page Gebsen of North Carolina, nephew Eric Gebsen of North Carolina, niece Michelle Kirsch of Simi Valley, California; and sister-in-law Ann Kotis of Mobile.

Graveside services for Mr. Kotis will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, AL beginning at 11:00 a.m.
