Norman graduated from Independent Methodist School and the University of South Alabama with a degree in engineering.
Norman, an engineer, worked at Newport News Shipbuilding and then for Ingalls Shipbuilding for over 30 years. He was an avid photographer, and he was an expert in the history of Apollo and Space Shuttle programs.
Norman never married, so he spent a lot of time with his siblings’ children. He took thousands of photographs of his niece and nephews. He freely gave his time to document, photographically, the lives of his loved ones and friends. If you saw Norman, he probably had his camera in his hands.
Norman loved animals – at least the family pets – and especially Magnus, a tiny Yorkshire terrier.
He didn’t miss going regularly to the Kennedy Space Center for events that included former astronauts. He collected the signatures of many of them and he was known for wearing loud ties.
Norman made friends everywhere he went. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.
