Patricia Ann Holmes was born on March 20, 1951 in Evergreen, Alabama to Bertha Nell Holmes. Patricia (Affectionately known as Aunt Patty cake) was a long-time resident of Mobile, Alabama. She worked hard for many years as a caregiver in various senior care centers. Later in life, she worked for the Mobile County public school system as a food service worker. Patricia was known for her kind demeanor, hearty laugh, famous banana pudding and catch phrase "Oh my word!".
Above all else, she was known as a faithful servant of Jehovah. She dedicated her life to him and symbolized it in water baptism on February 3, 1974, becoming one of Jehovah's witnesses. Patricia often spoke of her love for Jehovah and her firm belief in the resurrection hope, a foregleam Jesus demonstrated in the holy scriptures. This resurrection hope was dear to her heart. With great faith she longed for the day when she would see her siblings and parents again in the resurrection on earth, under God's Kingdom. She often expressed this desire.
Her belief in the kingdom was so great that Patricia spent many hours teaching and preaching to family, friends and others about God's Kingdom. Even when she fell ill, she was determined to participate in the ministry. She dedicated much time preaching and teaching, via letter writing and phone witnessing on videoconferencing. This was a great effort considering she was not a fan of technology. She would say "Oh my word, I can't wait to not have to deal with this computer anymore. But it's worth it to teach about Jehovah''.
Patricia Holmes spent her last days in the care of her niece Rhetta Mingo and family, who spared nothing to care for her. Days before she died, she made the effort to attend worship at the kingdom hall, where she was seen smiling and participating with her comments. She fell asleep in death on September 7, 2022 in a local hospital.
