Patricia Townsend Stone

Patricia (”Pat“) Townsend Stone died April 1, 2016, in Mobile, Alabama. Pat was born and raised in Mobile and graduated from Murphy High School. She attended Bennett College in Millbrook, New York and graduated magma cum laude from the University of Alabama where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She reigned as queen of the Mobile Carnival Association in 1954.

A longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Pat served as President of the St Paul’s Women of the Church and as a member of St Katherine’s Guild. Pat is survived by her children Melissa Stone Foster (Gary) and Susan Stone Trousdale (Preston) and by her granddaughter Katherine Townsend Trousdale. Pat was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years Frank Singleton Stone and her parents Dr. Charles Vaughn Townsend and Reba Cowan Townsend.

Visitation will be held at St Paul’s Episcopal Church on Monday April 4 at 10:00 followed by a memorial service. The family wishes to express their thanks to Pat’s caregiver Linda Jackson and acknowledges with gratitude the compassionate staff of Mobile Infirmary and Dr Thomas McGhee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Wilmer Hall, Bay Area Food Bank, or Friends of Mobile Animal Shelter.
