“I never thought that the girl in the college Sunday School class who invited me to go on the college retreat would become my best friend and companion for thirty two years. As we navigated through life together with its twists and turns, Rae remained rock solid and unwavering in her beliefs and in her faith. She was the loving mother of two awesome yet uniquely different boys, instilling in them the determination to follow their own individual paths.”
When it came to her career, Rae was a meticulous, ethical perfectionist. She treated all she came in contact with, with respect and genuine care, talking with them about anything, often praying with them, and inviting them to church. They loved and cared for her in return.
Sixteen months ago, our lives changed forever with Rae’s stroke and subsequent health issues presenting one insurmountable challenge after another, until Monday night June 12th, when God called her home to be with him.
A special friend shared with him. “Rae’s room is empty now. She has been released from her sorrow and pain, from the chains that confined her to that bed, and to that lonely room. She’s not sad or depressed anymore. She’s home with Jesus; her body has been healed perfectly and forever.
As always God is the answer. For believers, we know that God is in control and has us in His hands. Rae’s earthly life is over, but her eternal life has just begun.”
We will all miss her very much. Remember and cherish your memories of her in your heart and rejoice that she is in a much better place. One day we who believe will join her and we will all be reunited forever with our Lord.
Rae was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Thomas and Edna McKenzie, Helen Winterburn, and William Alford; and father-in-law, John L. Singley, Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, John Larkin Singley, Jr.; her two sons, Larkin McKenzie “Mackee” Singley and Ian Giles Singley; parents, Ray Mack and Patricia Alford; brother, Dr. Chad M. Alford and his wife Karen; their children: Thomas, Anna, and Nicholas Alford; brother, Reece B. Singley (Ivy); nieces, Madison Bray, Kaylee Bray Glisson, Caryss and Carleigh Singley; nephew, Landon Singley; and other cherished family and friends.
